چکیده

Kidney transplantation is considered the gold standard in treatment of end-stage renal disease and can be performed if cadaveric or living related donor organ available. AB0 incompatible kidney lead to antibody-mediated rejection. There are a number methods world for elimination anti-A/B antibodies prepare incompatible transplantation, each which has its advantages disadvantages. ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation

ABO antigens are composed of sugar chains and exist not only on red cells but also on many other cells including endothelial cells and epithelial cells of various organs such as kidney, heart, bowel, lung, and pancreas (Marionneau et al., 2001). ABO antibodies, which have been called as isoagglutinins, are preformed antibodies directed against missing A or B antigens. The source of anti-A/B ant...

ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation

ABO-incompatible (ABOi) kidney transplantation has long been considered a contraindication to successful kidney transplantation. During the last 25 years, increasing organ shortage enforced the development of strategies to overcome the ABO antibody barrier. In the meantime, ABOi kidney transplantation has become a routine procedure with death-censored graft survival rates comparable to the rate...

Current progress in ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation

ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation (ABOi KT) was introduced to expand the donor pool and minimize shortage of kidneys for transplantation. Because improved outcomes of ABOi KT were reported in Japan in the early 2000s, the number of ABOi KTs has been increasing worldwide. In addition, a better understanding of immune pathogenesis and subsequent aggressive immunosuppression has helped to ma...

The efficacy of antigen-specific immunoadsorption and rebound of anti-A/B antibodies in ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation.

BACKGROUND As antigen-specific immunoadsorption (IA) using the Glycosorb®-ABO columns is becoming increasingly popular in ABO-incompatible (ABOi) transplantation, in this study, we retrospectively investigated the efficacy of Glycosorb®-ABO IA in vivo and ex vivo. We also assessed the risk of anti-A/B antibody (ABab) rebound before and after ABOi kidney transplantation. METHODS A protocol for...

Trends in ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation.

The ABO-incompatible living-donor kidney transplantation was developed in Japan in 1989. Currently, most transplant physicians and surgeons have noted that outcomes are unexpectedly excellent, and no hyperacute rejections have been reported since 2001. In the registry of the Japanese ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation Committee, the data of 2434 ABO-incompatible living-donor kidney transpl...
